“Putin’s PRORIV!” was condemned in Pridnestrovie

26/05/2008 21:06

On the 19th of May during the sitting of Tiraspol municipal court a decision in favor of Pridnestrovian Ministry of Justice was taken. It refused a registration to Public committee “Putin’s PRORIV!”.

The motivation of the Ministry of Justice, worthy of the pen of Ilf and Petrov, came to the fact that the initiatory group has to get personal written permission of Vladimir Putin, who at the moment of refusal was the president of Russia, to be able to register aforesaid “Putin’s PRORIV!”. Human rights advocate Vadim Pogorletskiy, who defended the interests of “PRORIV!”, characterized the court’s decision as “lawlessness and corporate collusion between the Ministry of Justice and municipal court dependent on it”. According to the words of V. Pogorletskiy “the court did not have any reasons to refuse in the registration of “Putin’s PRORIV!”. Such verdict resembles a political sentence in relation to Putin’s supporters in Pridnestrovie who strive for unity.

In 2007 a movement in support of Vladimir Putin was created and registered, and none of the organizers thought of the personal signature of the Russian president. Unfortunately, legal deformations, which make it possible to doubt the democracy of the political system, still exist in Pridnestrovie. Being a lawyer, I can state that our struggle for registration of “Putin’s PRORIV!” will continue, even if we will have to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights”, stressed Vadim Pogorletskiy.
